You will have a crucial quality assurance role to play and the opportunity to significantly contribute to improving outcomes for children and young people, promoting high standards of care to those who are looked after by the Local Authority.

The North Yorkshire IRO team is well known for their friendly and supportive culture. The majority of employees have been part of the service for several years and continue to enjoy their roles. One of the current IRO’s had the following to say:  “The great thing about being an IRO in North Yorkshire is that I can still use my skills gained as a manager but work directly with children and young people and their families which is why I came into the profession in the first place – perfect!”

We are seeking someone with a good understanding of planning for children and excellent communication skills with children, families and professionals. You should have post-qualifying experience of children and family social work including substantial experience in child protection and planning for looked after children. Experience in chairing complex meetings and a good working knowledge of child care legislation is also required.
