We are currently looking for a social worker to help us realise our ambition of ensuring that all residents of North Yorkshire live longer, healthier, independent lives.

Whether you are a newly qualified social worker looking for your first opportunity or whether you are an experienced social worker looking for a new challenge, this could be the role for you!

We have roles available in the Hambleton area and with various hours available ranging from part time to full time and roles within the Hambleton South Community Social Care Team, there really is something for everyone.

Our roles allow a flexible approach to working. Whilst work can be undertaken from your home base, there will be a requirement to attend the office on occasions due to service need. While virtual working is promoted as a modern and efficient way of delivering services, the need for face-to-face visits will also be required at times, depending on the needs and circumstances of the individual you are working with. With this flexibility in mind, we encourage applicants to apply who might wish to work more flexibly or alternative hours (for example only weekends).

These roles present fantastic opportunities for those who are looking for diversity. The roles cover section 117’s, mental capacity assessment, care act assessments, safeguarding adults, supporting in a wide range of settings, community, supported living, extra care housing, hospitals, care homes, working with adults who are 18 plus and also with transitional cases. It offers a blended approach to home and on-site working, with 2 days a week working from home and 3 days a week spent locally.

As a Social Worker, forming collaborative partnerships will be key. You will work closely a variety of teams and agencies, including health colleagues, stronger communities and prevention teams, voluntary and independent sector, promoting health and wellbeing and preventing, reducing and delaying need, in line with the Care Act.

Through strength based assessments and interventions and a focus on holistic, person centred care, you will support adults with care and support needs and their carers to achieve their desired outcomes and wellbeing. In order to achieve this, you will be experienced in developing personalised care and support plans that represent best value and in determining eligibility for adults with care and support needs against the national standards, ensuring they are safe from harm. You will also have a good working knowledge of current adult social care legislation and application of the legislative principles, including the Care Act 2014.

We know Adult Social work is a challenging profession so it’s important to us that our social workers have manageable workloads, supportive and transparent management and the opportunity for continuous professional development.

We strive and excel in giving our colleagues commitment and high levels of support, enabling them to become the best social workers they can be. We are committed to creating a healthy culture where our social workers feel able to share their views, to achieve work/life balance and to continually learn and develop new ways of working.

As an organisation, we promote a safe culture of support and learning which we expect all staff to endorse. We recognise the importance of the health and wellbeing of our employees, striving to ensure our staff have manageable case workloads and providing them with specialised administrative support, allowing focus on delivery of care services. We also support the AYSE (Assessed and Supported Year of Employment) programme for newly qualified Social Workers where you will be supported in your first full year of employment through reduced caseloads and enhanced supervision.  A key part of ensuring this supportive environment involves both peer support groups and link working with other professionals.

In addition to this we can also offer a range of benefits including a competitive salary, generous leave entitlement, flexible working, a local government pension scheme, salary sacrifice and employee discount benefits. North Yorkshire is a modern council rolling out new technology including modern IT equipment, WIFI access across NYCC buildings, remote access and Microsoft Teams – all enabling and supporting flexible working.
