We are currently looking for a Maintenance Manager for our area office in Skipton.
Our service
The Highways Operations Unit is responsible for the implementation of highway improvement and maintenance schemes, routine highway maintenance activities, delivery of the winter maintenance services, local network management and liaison with the public at a local level.
The role
As our Maintenance Manager you will lead the team to ensure our highway safety compliance for the Area 5 Skipton Highways office. You will assess and identify highway maintenance works, including drainage and surface treatments, prepare design briefs that contribute to the delivery of the local capital programme, including the monitoring and management of locally devolved budgets.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to further develop their career and management skills within the Highways Service and the County Council, showcase their potential and grow and develop themselves within a very challenging and demanding role.
In addition to this you will also be involved in delivering winter service and other highways emergencies for which you will receive standby payments and other payments will be made.
What you will bring
You must hold an HNC/HND in an appropriate technical discipline or similar appropriate qualifications, knowledge of highways and transportation and related legislation, works programming and co-ordination. Have excellent communication skills both written and oral, with the ability to confidently use persuasion, influencing and/or negotiation techniques to influence others in difficult situations.
