Highways Customer Communications Officer

Evening and Weekend working may sometimes be required.
We are looking for a strong communicator to join our Highways Team in Boroughbridge.
As our Customer Communications Officer you will be responsible for undertaking a lead role in all tasks associated with communication and performance management and the political process. You will provide advice, guidance and support in response to telephone queries (including from Members) and brief the Area Manager/Area Management Team as appropriate. Arrange and ensure routine and non-routine correspondence is dealt with on behalf of the Area Manager/Area Management Team. Collate and co-ordinate information, carry out research and analysis in a range of issues/case work, to lead on such matters at an appropriate level and to prepare reports.
In addition to this you will also represent the Service at appropriate Corporate/Directorate Communications Meetings, and take a lead role in undertaking actions resulting from those meetings, establish and maintain clear lines of communication with colleagues, agencies and with partners of the Authority, and maintain regular contact with the local Area Business Support Team in relation to correspondence, filing systems and the Area Office commitments.
You must be able to demonstrate recent experience in a fast paced, high performance customer orientated environment, have practical and procedural knowledge of administrative policies and processes. Have a proven track record of working productively in a pressurised environment and demonstrate a range of techniques such as influencing, persuading and/or negotiating with others in a range of situations.
The ideal candidate must be resilient, able to act calmly and think on their feet.
The Highways and Transportation Service forms part of the Business and Environmental Services Directorate, which is situated at County Hall, Northallerton with local offices in Brompton-on Swale, Thirsk, Whitby, Kirby Misperton, Selby, Boroughbridge and Skipton. You will spend time in the Boroughbridge based teams as well travelling to other locations if required.

Accurate spoken English and Advanced ICT skills is essential for this post.
The role does require travel across the county.
