Location: Manor Rd Knaresborough or White Rose House, Northallerton. The service very much promotes flexible working with the ability to work remotely from other bases, as well as working from home. 

Hours: Part-time/ 18.5 hours

An exciting opportunity has become available within the North West Fostering service.

We are recruiting a part time assessment practice supervisor based in the North West area, the base could be Manor Rd Knaresborough or White Rose house, Northallerton. 

 

The fostering service continues to embed its core values of providing and supporting local children in local placements.

 

We are extremely proud of our recent Children and Families Ofsted report, rating us as outstanding in all provisions across our children’s social care services, stating:

 

“Almost 100 per cent of North Yorkshire’s children in foster care are placed within the county.” 

 

This is a great achievement and a culture we want to continue to grow, seeing children remaining in their community and school wherever possible.

 

We have a small-dedicated team of assessing social workers who are part of the wider fostering team that assess, support and supervise all foster carers across the North West part of the county and the role of practice supervisor would be to support and supervise the assessing social workers who are completing fostering assessments. Part of this role is to progress assessments in a timely manner, including the gate keeping and signing of completed assessments prior to fostering panel.    

 

You would be joining an existing experienced team of assessing fostering social workers, who are responsible for the assessment of North Yorkshire foster carers.  

 

Within the wider team, there is supervision and support practice supervisors, team manager, supervision and support social workers, fostering Support workers and dedicated business support.

 

Applications are invited from experienced qualified Social Workers with some relevant previous experience, ideally experienced in fostering and have a good understanding of the assessment process and the impact of childhood adverse trauma. 

Experience of supervising and managing staff would be advantageous.

 

You will need to be committed to developing excellent outcomes for children through creating productive working relationships with a wide range of services to support our fostering families.

 

The post of assessing practice supervisor involves a range of professional skills; however, this role will predominantly focus on the assessment of potential foster carers. This includes both unrelated carers and connected foster carers.

 

Applicants would benefit from an understanding of the whole fostering process, but specifically the requirements within the assessment of foster carers.  In addition, you should be familiar with the statutory requirements of the assessment and the ongoing approval of foster carers.

 

The successful candidate will join a county fostering service committed to developing excellent practice in line with the National Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards.

 

The post involves a degree of working outside normal office hours for home visits and group work.
