Ryedale District Council’s IT Service Desk play a fundamental role in enabling the council to deliver key services to the residents and businesses of Ryedale.

With a workforce now predominantly working from home, the importance of fully functioning, highly skilled service desk able to respond to changing business needs, is more important than ever and we are looking for someone to lead and develop the team for a 6 month period while we undertake some key IT projects.

About the role
:  We are looking for an experienced ICT Services Manager who relishes a challenge and can quickly step into the role and support the team in working towards best practice, prepare to support new solutions (primarily M365), as well as someone who enjoys forming positive working relationships  with our suppliers, officers and elected members. In order to be successful in this role, it is essential that you:
 - Are educated to degree level in a technology related subject or equivalent, or have demonstrable experience at this level.
 - Have a significant technical IT background focussing on managing a range of IT technologies, including but not limited to VMWare, Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop products, MS Active Directory, Thin Client technologies and Networking technologies. ·      
- Have extensive knowledge of managing a corporate network and associated IT systems   ·     
- Have a sound understanding and knowledge of ITIL-based change control processes and methodology

 About you;
Getting the best from your team will be something you strive for, you’ll  have proven ability to lead and develop staff, through training, coaching and performance management. You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and commitment to continuous improvement. You are self-motivated with the ability to deal with conflicting demands whilst meeting tight deadlines and a creative problem solver able to identify possible causes of problems and implement solutions to minimise future occurrence. You will be able to lead, but willing and able to dig in and deliver where capacity issues require it.

Whilst the position will be based at Malton, as a modern council we can offer very attractive flexible working arrangements with a mix of home working and working hours that can enable an excellent work/life balance. There is a requirement to ensure adequate cover for the service desk to meet business need and due to the small size of the team it is likely that the post holder will be required to provide cover at times (the Service Desk is open 08:30 to 5:00 Mon – Thurs and 08:30 to 04:30 Friday). It is also expected that the post holder will be on site one or two days a week as required to lead and support the team, but outside of that, flexibility in when hours are worked can be agreed to suit.
