Green Hammerton C.E is a happy, caring and supportive primary school with an incredible warmth and a welcoming family atmosphere.  We provide a nurturing environment, based on Christian values, where all individuals are treated with fairness, respect and equality and where the interests of our pupils are paramount. Our pupils respectful and accepting of each other.

We are a friendly, ambitious, child-centred, inclusive, Church of England primary school located in the stunning rural village of Green Hammerton, near the beautiful City of York. The school works closely with the community and is promoted to ensure it remains visibly high and attractive to parents.

Our school focuses on the development of the whole child, enabling each pupil to feel cherished and challenged to fulfil their potential in relation to academic and personal development. This all takes place within a supportive, Christian, family orientated environment, where everyone cares for the well-being of each individual in their community.

Your remit will be to raise standards by developing the collaboration and partnership with, the pupils, staff, parents, governors, school advisors and with the wider communities. You will also ensure our school continues to be challenged in all aspects of school life, ensuring that pupil outcomes are maximised.

You must exhibit confidence, be an engaging communicator that displays empathy and has a clear focus on continuing to build a healthy workplace culture to benefit the wellbeing of staff and pupils.

 

This exciting opportunity gives a new Headteacher the scope to shape how our school moves forward. The future of our school requires a strong leader with a clear vision, who has the ability to communicate that vision to others and to make an instant impact.

 

The new Headteacher will be required to commit and concentrate on:

  • Building a strong rapport with both staff members and the children across all year groups
  • Building back the community feel post-Covid to ensure continuation of the family atmosphere of the school
  • Developing non-teachers to be able to take the lead on the pastoral support of children and families. To create time and reduce workload for SLT and teachers to give children an outstanding learning experience
  • Developing senior leaders within school, allowing staff to be accountable and confident in their roles
  • Utilising your Inclusive leadership style to be able to build an effective Team
  • Modernised but maintain the ethos of our school

 

In particular, we are looking for an Headteacher who;

  • Is aware of their responsibility a Headteacher of a Church of England school, to maintain their faith commitment and their caring and nurturing environments, while continuing to improve our drive to achieve excellent results, above the national average, while nurturing well-rounded happy children.
  • Has the ability to keenly observe progress across all age groups and abilities and intervene as soon as gaps or anomalies appear.
  • Understands the significance that a thriving school can be the beating heart of a rural community and that their success or otherwise affects the wider community.
  • Is an inspirational leader who is committed to delivering the School's vision for the children, staff and communities we serve.
