Job Title: Qualified Teacher of Vision Impairments (QTVI)

Salary: National Teachers pay and conditions apply. Main scale 1 to main scale 6.  UPS will be considered if applicable. (+SEN 2 depending on qualifications) per annum pro rata   

Location: County-wide. We very much promote flexible working with the ability to work remotely from a variety of bases as well as from home, whatever makes sense and is suitable to provide the best service.

Hours: 0.8 FTE

Contract: Maternity cover from September 2021 with a review to becoming permanent at the end of the maternity contract.

North Yorkshire Vision Support Team have a QTVI Maternity cover from September 2021. The VI Team work in a peripatetic role with schools, early years settings, special schools, colleges and families (0-25); building their capacity to meet the needs of learners with vision impairment, through Advisory and Teaching programmes.

You will need to be an enthusiastic, motivated professional with excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, the ability to work independently and contribute to the wider team within the Service. Being well organised and willing to travel is essential.

We will also consider suitably experienced teachers without the mandatory qualification who are interested in developing their skills in this field. You will need to be an outstanding practitioner who has recent classroom teaching experience, a passion for SEND and a willingness to undertake the two-year specialist postgraduate qualification to train as a QTVI. The Service provides a mentor for all new members of staff and for those in training.
