Rated as Outstanding by Ofsted (2011) and by SIAMS (2016), we are a thriving Church of England school located to the south west of York with 106 children on roll.

The Christian ethos at St. Mary’s is of central importance to our stakeholders and we are seeking a Headteacher who will ensure these values are effectively promoted and upheld.
Our location ensures with benefit from excellent connectivity with easy access to the A64 and A1(M) as well as excellent mainline rail connections from nearby York.
We have strong links to the Pathfinder Teaching School Alliance, our current Headteacher being a member of its Headteacher board, and form part of both the South Bank Cluster and Small Schools Cluster. In addition, we are active in the community and benefit from good relationships with parents, local authority, Diocese of York and our local church.
An effective leader and communicator, your role will be to inspire and influence children, staff and stakeholders while developing and promoting our Christian values. As well as assuming responsibility for all aspects of school life, you will also direct the strategic plan, lead the development of the curriculum and deliver an outstanding provision which meets the needs of all our children.
A creative thinker with high expectations for all, you must be able to demonstrate well-developed leadership skills, a talent for motivating others and the expertise to effectively manage the budget. Initially, you would have a teaching commitment of 0.2fte though the intention is to remove this commitment in the short to medium term.
