Salary: £10.98 to £11.39 per hour (£21,189 to £21,968 pro rata)

Hours: Term Time Only – 24 hours per week

Contract: Fixed Term until March 2024

We are looking for Road Safety Assistants to join our Road Safety & Active Travel team in Craven.

 

Our Team

 

The Road Safety & Active Travel team delivers the councils statutory services to provide road safety education, training and publicity programmes and collision and casualty data analysis and services.

Additionally, the team delivers a programme of road safety and active travel programmes that are designed to reduce road casualties and increase active travel on behalf of the Director of Public Health and the 95 Alive York & North Yorkshire Road Safety Partnership.

 

The role

 

As our Road Safety Assistant, you will be responsible for booking our Bikeability cyclist training with schools and other venues throughout the Craven District. You will organise and support a team of part time Bikeability training instructors and will work with them to deliver training. You will also carry out site risk assessments; provide schools and staff with all required documentation, keep accurate detailed records and stock control of equipment and resources.

 

You need to be a well organised, confident, outgoing person who can work with children and adults to deliver road safety training programmes.

 

The role is based at NYCC Highways Area 5 depot in Skipton. We anticipate that you will work from home for part of your normal working week.

 

The work is mainly Monday to Friday but some weekend and evening working may be required.

 

Ideally, we are looking for someone with an understanding of the principles of safer cycling on the public highway and Road Safety Education, Training and publicity, however, we welcome applications from keen cyclists as training will be provided.

 

A full DBS clearance is required which we will provide.
