HR Adviser (Casework) - NYHR

About us

The world of Education is a rapidly changing environment presenting challenge and opportunity: we are proud to be an award winning, responsive and solution focussed service providing a high standard of professional HR Advisory support to over 400 educational settings. As a 100% traded service, we rely on each and every member of our team to have a highly commercial and professional approach. Our customers include Academies, Independent Schools and Early Year settings both within and beyond North Yorkshire’s boundaries and we are continuing to successfully grow our customer base beyond North Yorkshire’s boundaries thanks to our excellent team.

Our successful commercial approach has attracted national recognition in the form of winning the 2018 PPMA award for HR and Commercialism.

As a result of our success, we are looking to expand our team and have fantastic opportunities for aspiring and experienced commercially minded HR professionals either now or potentially in the very near future.

What you will be doing…

This is a varied, challenging and rewarding customer facing role with client management responsibilities for primary schools. The HR Advisor role manages a predominantly employee relations caseload, including disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, restructuring and TUPE.

You will also contribute to strategic targets within the service plan and will contribute to policy development.

What you will bring…

As an HR Adviser, you will be highly motivated, a self-starter with the ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently to deliver a high quality, commercial HR service. You absorb and retain information quickly and have a keen eye for detail with a solution focused approach.

Strong communication comes naturally to you – both verbally and written, which helps you build strong, constructive relationships with HR colleagues, managers, partners and stakeholders.

You are likely to have experience of working within a large, complex organisation, in private or public sector as well as:

  • A sound knowledge of current employment legislation and good HR practice
  • You will ideally be a chartered member of the CIPD (or equivalent) with an excellent understanding of employment legislation.
  • A breadth and depth of generalist HR experience
  • A commercially minded approach
  • Resilience and confidence with the ability to cope with peaks in demand in a pressurised environment
  • Understanding of and commitment to Equalities and Diversity
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, positive attitude and ability to think creatively.

What you will get in return…

We want you to work to live not live to work, we want you to enjoy the things in life that really matter to you and this is important to us. We can offer you a range of employee benefits including a competitive salary, generous leave entitlement, flexible working hours, a government pension scheme and access to our ‘Everybody Benefits’ package which includes a variety of retail discounts.

You can also expect to receive ongoing support throughout your role and to be part of a friendly and dedicated team.

Although you will be required to attend County Hall on a fairly regular basis, you will be fully enabled through mobile kit and encouraged by management to work in a highly agile way at locations across the County, including home.

If this sounds like the opportunity for you we’d love to hear from you…
