An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Business Support Service to support the work of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking across North Yorkshire and the City of York. The role will include supporting the creation of a new National Referral Mechanism (NRM) Panel across North Yorkshire and City of York to identify children who may have been subjected to modern slavery through exploitation. The role will work across North Yorkshire and the City of York however will be based within the North Yorkshire Safeguarding Unit and North Yorkshire Children Partnership. This post is for a One Year Fixed Term Senior Business Support Officer, Grade G to work 37 hours at our office in County Hall, Northallerton.
This role would be covering a number of operational meetings that may be held both virtually and in person, you would be responsible for planning, organising, liaising with the Home Office and Single Competent Authority (SCA), supporting professionals to complete the referral forms, keeping detailed an accurate records of the cases heard at the panel and also minuting meetings of a highly confidential nature. There may also be some expectation to travel within this role. There will be an expectation that you will engage with a wide range of multi-agency partners and develop an understanding of their different roles and functions and how they contribute to the NRM arrangements.
You would be one of the first points of contact for all agencies who attend these meetings so good communication skills are essential. The successful applicant will be a well organised and flexible individual who has excellent ICT skills, along with good literacy and numeracy skills. You must be able to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines and have the ability to work on your own initiative as well as effectively working as part of a team. Accuracy and attention to detail is crucial, and experience of minuting meetings is essential. There may be occasions where you are in contact with professionals who have safeguarding concerns for a child and must be able to signpost them to ensure to safeguard the child.
