Post:  Headteacher

Number on Roll:  45

Commencing:  April 2020

Are you a strategic, visionary and experienced leader who can build on our strength and drive our school forward?

Gillamoor Church of England VC Primary School is a small, forward thinking village school, nestled on the edge of the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors.  We are well-respected and known for our high standards, exemplary pupil behaviour and a fully inclusive model of education; enabling all children to fulfil their full potential whatever their starting points.  Our Christian ethos and core values of Loving and Caring, Courage, Compassion, Honesty, Thankfulness, Generosity, Respect and Forgiveness support this model and are lived out in the daily work of the school.

Currently rated as ‘good’ by Ofsted and SIAMS, as a school we have made steady improvements in raising expectations, the quality of teaching and learning on offer and professional development opportunities for our staff.  We are proud of our warm and welcoming school, where we value our community and have an ethos of kindness and support for each other, placing a high premium on creating a learning environment in which children thrive in a vibrant, exciting and happy school with a family feel.

Our ambition, and yours, will be that Gillamoor Church of England VC Primary School plays a pivotal role within primary education in the area, for promoting the latest developments in teaching, learning and inclusion practices.  Our children, who are taken from a broad catchment area, deserve an education that will change their lives and give them the opportunity to fulfil their potential, and in turn you and your staff will enjoy a fulfilling career, releasing your potential and maximising your impact.

Currently, the role has a 0.4FTE teaching commitment which may vary dependent on changing needs.

Our opportunity

We are looking for a strong leader with a clear picture of outstanding practice, and a track record which demonstrates the potential to balance the Headteacher and teaching responsibilities within the role.

The Headteacher role will provide strategic leadership and direction to our school, while building upon the excellent practice and high standards already found in the school.  This will mean a strong focus on curriculum delivery and outstanding teaching and learning, the development of every pupil ensuring their best possible progress, working closely with parents and carers and the community, and continuously seeking ways to make further improvements.

About you

To succeed, you will be the strategic driver of the school, developing the vision and building and leading an outstanding team to deliver it.   You must be a strong communicator and have the ability to forge and promote positive relationships with all staff, pupils, parents and carers. This will be key to your success.  You will need a real desire to achieve and the presence, ambition and expertise to deliver strong, clear leadership and vision.

Financially astute, you will also build partnerships, while delivering an outstanding educational provision that is sustainable for the long term.  In addition, you will promote Christian ethos and high expectations, while engaging positively and respectfully with our parent/carer/family community, ensuring we meet the needs of our pupils whilst promoting excellence.

You will inherit a school which has a strong community ethos and colleagues who are proud to work for a school which puts the whole child and parental engagement at its very heart.

We can offer you:
 -
A happy and friendly village school, fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment in which to inspire and motivate our children.

 - Significant levels of support from the Local Authority, Governing Board, Diocese and a staff team who are experienced, committed and passionate about our school.
 - Delightful children who respect each other, have a thirst for learning new things and a staff culture which allows new members to thrive and develop.
 - An opportunity to see the huge potential that exists here and with clear support, tenacity, energy and the time to make Gillamoor Church of England VC Primary School a beacon of excellence in primary education.
