One Adoption is committed to providing timely, high quality services to meet the needs of Looked after Children who need permanence through adoption. Working in Adoption is an exciting, challenging and rewarding job. It is a role, which gives Social Workers the opportunity to operate within a range of contexts, for example, undertaking an assessment of prospective adopters, providing adoption support services to families, providing preparation training to prospective adoptive parents and being part of a professional team to support the matching and placing of children.

As a service, we are committed to creating a healthy culture where social workers feel that they have a forum to share their views about the organisation and environment in which they work. We clearly demonstrate that the voice of the child and family shape the service we provide and this is evidenced throughout our practice. As a national leader, we have been recognised as an exemplar through the award of Partners in Practice status and are Ofsted rated as outstanding in all areas.

Feedback from Social Worker’s in our team in Adoption ;

“My role gives me great pride and satisfaction in what I do. I have the unique opportunity to engage with and work alongside people who are at a range of different stages in their lives, whether that be starting out on their journey to becoming adoptive parents, or celebrating the creation of their permanent family through an Adoption Order.

I really enjoy providing support to adoptive families and their children and knowing that I am making a positive difference to their lives. The opportunities to work alongside a team of social workers, that offer invaluable support, knowledge and experience, enables me to continue to learn and grow as a professional.

This job offers me a range of opportunities to utilise my skills in different ways and I benefit from the fantastic support of my managers and colleagues, working within an excellent Local Authority. The chance to work in a role that helps make a positive difference to children’s and adoptive parent’s lives, is something that motivates me every day”.
