Empowering customers to live independently and enjoy their retirement. That’s when it hits home.

We have a great opportunity for you to join our community wellbeing scheme in Scarborough. We support our customers who are aged 55+ to live independently in their own home and enjoy their well-earned retirement. Whether you have worked in care before and want to develop your career or are new to the care sector and want you to be given a chance to learn, we’re keen to hear from you.

The job in a nutshell

You’ll support our customers who have a range of support needs which may include frailty and dementia. You’ll help them to regain or maintain their independence and “live well” in their own home. You’ll do that by supporting them with every day daily living activities. You’ll also help customers who have more complex support needs with personal care including bathing, toileting and getting dressed.

Where and when you do your job

Our customers live in one of 63 beautifully designed apartments and have a variety of on-site facilities available including assisted living technology, wellbeing, care provision, restaurant, café, hair/beauty salon, communal rooms, and picturesque landscaped gardens. It’s a real community hub.

We provide 24-hour support to our customers, so you’ll work on a rota basis from 10:00pm to 7:30am, taking your turn to work weekends and bank holidays. The great news is that we’re flexible to agreeing a working pattern that works for you and our customers.

About you

Your positive caring, can-do attitude and empathy really make a difference to help our customers to live their best lives. It would be great if you’ve worked in a CQC care setting previously, and the cherry on the cake would be if you also hold a Level 2 Diploma in Care. The great news is that it’s not a deal breaker if you haven’t had a job like this before, we won’t drop you in the deep end, we’ll nurture your talent, and help you understand how things work at Home Group.

About our team

Although you’ll work nights, we do get together regularly in the daytime for training and team meetings. You’ll be part of our wider team and there are 19 of us in the team. We don’t just support our customers, we’re there for each other too. You’ll report to Bridie, our Registered Manager, who works with Jemma our Community and Wellbeing Manager. Both have a wealth of experience to lead our brilliant service and are perfectly placed to support you when you join.

Be yourself at Home

Home Group is committed to tackling prejudice and discrimination, not just for our customers, but for our colleagues too. We’re super proud of our internal Diversity Networks and allies (Multicultural, LGBTQIA+ and Disability) which support colleagues from different backgrounds to be their true selves. We recognise and celebrate our differences, together we make Home Group a great place to work! Let us know if you’d like us to make any adjustments to support you in your application or day to day on the job.

When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
