Our Team
The Development Management Team is based in the Network Strategy service area within the wider highways and transportation team. It is responsible for leading on the delivery of new roads and highway improvements associated with new major development. This role includes offering the local highway authority input to local plans and associated development strategies, offering highway authority recommendations to the local planning authorities, leading on 278 and 38 agreements and offering superintendence to the delivery of third party developer led works.
The team also leads and delivers the NYCC role of Lead Local Flood Authority. This work includes offering statutory responses to the local planning authority on sustainable drainage associated with new major development, undertaking flood investigations, land drainage consenting, delivering a programme of flood mitigation works within North Yorkshire as part of the NY flood risk strategy.
The role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Flood Risk Project Engineer to join our Development Management Team. Reporting to the Development Management Team Leader, you will be part of a team of skilled and passionate Engineers in the Development Management Team.
You will be part of the team responsible for the delivery of the NYCC flood risk management programme. You will offer statutory recommendations to the local planning authorities on Sustainable Drainage (SuDS) and lead and offer advice to Engineers in the undertaking of flood incident reviews and investigations in accordance with the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy, preparing associated design briefs for consultants in consultation with the Development Management Team Leader.
To be successful, you must have a National Level 5 Qualification in Flood Risk Management or similar technical discipline, HND (Higher National Diploma) and/or DipHE (Diploma in Higher Education). You must have significant experience in Flood Risk Management, including the role of the LLFA as a statutory consultee to the planning process and have experience of the procurement of flood risk management related works, including contract supervision and effectively monitoring and managing contracts, and have experience in financial budgets and project work. You will also have demonstrable analytical, decision making and problem solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to persuade influence and negotiate.
