‘Beyond Expectations’

Located 12 miles north east of York, Norton College is an exciting place to study and teach. We believe our students can be truly brilliant. A set of core values called ASPIRE shape all our work. These values are coupled with a belief in developing students’ self-belief and then helping them work hard in all that we do together. Families choose us because of our culture of high expectations, yet this is coupled with a “family feel” where students are known and respected as individuals. A strong sixth form enables all our students to stay with us for seven years.

We pride ourselves on our commitment to high quality teaching and learning, ensuring our students are stimulated, confident and engaged. Our curriculum is planned to offer all our students the opportunity for high academic achievement and personal fulfilment through a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular activities. We also provide strong pastoral and careers support.

Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted (September 2017) this is a real opportunity to make a significant difference in a college, which has clearly identified objectives and a real desire to achieve. There is a clear upward trajectory and your remit will be to improve pupil outcomes and make us outstanding.

The new Headteacher will need the presence, ambition and the expertise to deliver strong, clear leadership, raise aspirations across the college community and build on our improvement plan. A positive communicator, able to motivate staff and students and positively engage with parents/carers, you must possess the skills needed to raise standards and build effective partnerships. Your ability to manage resources while ensuring our friendly, family culture will be essential to your success.

In all your endeavours, you will have strong support from a dedicated Governing Body.

We very much welcome visits, so if you would like the opportunity to come along and find out more please email Steve Cooper at North Yorkshire County Council or call him on 07976 653898. Steve will also be happy to answer any questions you might have.
