Contract: Full-time (37 hours) / Permanent

Our vision for the future is to make North Yorkshire a place of opportunity, where all children and young people are happy, healthy and achieving.

We want all children and young people with SEND in North Yorkshire:

  • To have the best educational opportunities so that they achieve the best outcomes;
  • To be able to attend a school or provision locally, as close to their home as possible, where they can make friends and be part of their local community;
  • To make progress with learning, have good social and emotional health, and to prepare them for a fulfilling adult life.

Our vision for education provision for children and young people with SEND builds on both the SEND Strategic Plan for Educational Provision and the Young and Yorkshire 2 Plan. The SEND Strategic Plan for Educational Provision is an ambitious five-year plan which describes how we intend to transform services and educational provision for children and young people with SEND in North Yorkshire.

We are looking for an Educational Psychologist (Senior Practitioner) to join our multi-agency team.

This is a great time to be joining our service; in April 2020 we created locality based hubs of SEND professionals, including SEN caseworkers, educational psychologists, specialist teachers and practitioners, together with speech and language therapists and occupational therapists. Based within four localities across North Yorkshire, the hubs are responsible for working closely with schools and settings to identify children early and to ensure they receive appropriate support and interventions to meet their special educational needs.

As an Educational Psychologist (Senior Practitioner) you will work directly with schools and settings as part of our traded offer to embed consistent inclusive practices and support the early identification of children and young people with additional needs, as well as provide training to schools and settings. You will also engage in statutory work.  There are opportunities to work therapeutically within our targeted provisions and PRS, with the whole service being trained in CBT approaches. EPs will also have the opportunity to be involved in projects in each of the hub areas which will further inform practice and strategy across SEND.

To be successful you must have a masters or doctorate level qualification in Educational Psychology and be registered with the HCPC; have experience of varied and relevant work with children, young people and their families in a number of education and other settings; be creative and forward thinking with the knowledge, skills, enthusiasm and willingness to use psychological frameworks to facilitate positive change.

These posts are suitable for EPs at any stage in their career, including those due to qualify in September 2021.

In return, we can offer you a range of employee benefits, including a competitive salary, generous leave entitlement, a government pension scheme and access to our ‘Everybody Benefits’ package, which includes a variety of retail discounts.

You will be fully enabled through mobile kit to work in a highly agile way at locations across the local authority.

Location

We are advertising the same role by location as we are extremely flexible on location and happy for you to operate out of any of our four hubs.

We can offer you a comprehensive benefits package including:

·       A generous relocation scheme (up to £8000)

·       Modern flexible working practices;

·       A local government pension scheme;

·       Family friendly leave;

·       Salary sacrifice, employee cash backs and discounts schemes; and

·       Learning, development and career advancement opportunities.
