Caring – Aspiring – Excelling

Currently rated as Good by Ofsted, Hunton & Arrathorne Community Primary School represents an excellent opportunity for a Headteacher to lead, shape and influence our future and ensure our continued success.

Situated in a characterful, Victorian building, we are located in the village of Hunton, approximately 6 miles from the larger market towns of Richmond, Bedale and Leyburn and 4 miles from Catterick Garrison, the UKs largest garrison town.

Caring – Aspiring – Excelling. We believe that the key to a productive school life is for children to feel happy and secure which is something we pride ourselves on at Hunton & Arrathorne. Our class groupings are kept small for the core subjects of English and Mathematics and this enables us to really know the children, to meet their needs and to help them to focus on their next steps, to challenge them and to extend their learning.

The school has strong and positive relationships with parents. Also. the governing body is supportive and plays an active role in the school’s development.

We are seeking to appoint a committed and experienced professional to further shape our improvement plan. The successful candidate will continue to raise standards whilst ensuring the ‘family feel’ of the school is maintained.

Able to effectively motivate inspire and influence pupils, staff and stakeholders, you will assume responsibility for all aspects of school life. This will include directing the school’s strategic planning, leading the development of the curriculum and delivering an outstanding provision which meets the needs of all our young people. You will also have a 0.4 teaching commitment.

To succeed, you must be a proven leader and manager with the ability to develop a small team and maximise achievement. An excellent communicator, you must also possess the skills needed to influence stakeholders, particularly in the area of collaboration. In addition, you’ll need a good understanding of how small schools work and an appreciation of the flexibility staff need to display.
