Our Team
The Development Management Team is based in the Network Strategy service area within the wider highways and transportation team. It is responsible for leading on the delivery of new roads and highway improvements associated with new major development. This role includes offering the local highway authority input to local plans and associated development strategies, offering highway authority recommendations to the local planning authorities, leading on 278 and 38 agreements and offering superintendence to the delivery of third party developer led works.
The team also leads and delivers the NYCC role of Lead Local Flood Authority. This work includes offering statutory responses to the local planning authority on sustainable drainage associated with new major development, undertaking flood investigations, land drainage consenting, delivering a programme of flood mitigation works within North Yorkshire as part of the NY flood risk strategy.
The role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Development Management Engineer to join our Network Strategy team within our Highways Service. You will be part of a team of skilled and passionate Engineers delivering our Highways Development Management Service.
We undertake the roles and responsibilities associated with the County Council’s function as Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA), respond to significant and strategic planning application, and provide strategic direction on matters relating to highways development management within North Yorkshire. If you have experience in preparing responses to Local Highways Authority planning applications, and/or manages a portfolio of major development applications, relating to the delivery of highway and sustainable drainage, in consultation with the principal engineer, and/or independently assessed the lead local flood authority and local highway authority aspects of planning applications and prepare Lead Local Flood Authority responses on planning applications, then we want to hear from you.
To be successful you must hold an ONC, undertaking year 1 or 2 of HND/C, and/or hold a HND/C in Civil Engineering or degree in other relevant discipline or flood and coastal risk management foundation degree. Have working knowledge of current legislation and guidance relating to the control of developments and plans procedures.
