We are looking for a committed, flexible and enthusiastic practitioner to join our dedicated, professional team in our happy school. This post is to cover Maternity leave for the Spring Term and Summer Term to July 2020 teaching a class of Year 3 children.
We are a community school, located to the north of Scarborough in the village of Burniston. Our catchment area includes the villages of Burniston, Cloughton and the surrounding rural area.
We are looking for someone who:
Has a thorough knowledge of statutory National Curriculum requirements at Key Stage 1 and 2
Can plan for and provide a range of excellent learning opportunities for our children to allow the children to make progress across a broad, balanced curriculum
Can quickly establish themselves as a member of our happy and dedicated team and communicate effectively with pupils and parents
Has a clear understanding of the need to provide a safe, stimulating environment
Has a commitment to the innovative use of ICT Has a commitment to the well-being, personal development and safeguarding of our pupils
Can be flexible in approach, listen to ideas and reflect on feedback
Can commit to our school’s values and contribute to its success

We currently have 224 children on roll, with 7 classes
A dedicated team of teachers and support staff support learning throughout the school
Our last OFSTED inspection, in March 2017, graded the school as ‘Good’. Since then we have continued to try and improve our school; developing our leaders and working hard to develop our teaching
We use a ‘Mastery’ approach to the teaching of mathematics with a strong focus on reasoning, problem solving and the use of manipulatives.
We have recently introduced a core English resource – ‘Wordsmith’ – and English is taught through a ‘whole text’ approach which promotes an enjoyment of reading
PSHE and the well-being of our children is a relentless focus for our school; our ‘Busy Buzzy Bee’ project promotes character education throughout our school
At Lindhead we champion a broad, balanced and enjoyable curriculum
We have super school grounds which we like to make the most of and excellent links across the community
We are in a position to offer significant support to a newly or recently qualified teacher, despite the temporary nature of the contract
This position is full-time and temporary due to the need to cover a maternity leave.
The successful candidate will be expected to assume immediate responsibility for the teaching, learning and assessment of a class of Year 3 pupils.
