Lawyer - Adult Services - Northallerton (LDS607)

Salary: £32,029 up to £42,683 per annum, depending on experience

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced lawyer, solicitor or barrister to provide specialist legal advice, support and representation to the Council’s Health and Adult Services directorate. Adult social care is a highly specialised area that involves complex law and a broad range of social issues. As a service we provide a comprehensive and efficient service to our users and we are proud holders of the Lexcel accreditation. We proactively meet the needs of our existing clients, with ambitious plans to grow our customer bases.

About the role : The appointed person will provide advice to the Council’s Health and Adult Services directorate on all aspects of adult social care including mental capacity and best interests, safeguarding vulnerable adults, deprivation of liberty, ordinary residence and mental health.   Dedicated support and advice is also provided to the Benefits, Assessment and Charging Teams in Health and Adult Services, on matters related to financial assessments and charging for adult social care. This role is a challenging one that would suit someone with the ability to analyse complex factual information and to identify and apply the relevant legislation and case law.
 
About you : Ideally, you will have specific experience in adult social care, as well as excellent communication, analytical and drafting skills, be able to manage a full caseload and provide practical legal advice and support on both operational and strategic matters.  The role requires a  person with enthusiasm, commitment and motivation to deliver excellent service to the Health and Adult Services directorate.
