COVID 19 - Community Worker (Auxiliary Care & Support Workforce) - Harrogate

Your community needs you!
Harrogate

During the coronavirus pandemic it is more important than ever that we keep people safe and supported across North Yorkshire’s communities. To do this, we need your help at this critical time.

North Yorkshire is a place where looking out for friends and neighbours is part of daily life and kindness comes naturally. These values are what helps make the county such a special place to live, work and visit.

We know that people will want to help their communities and we’re encouraging people to work for us to make sure we can continue to support vulnerable adults and older people over the coming months.

If your current employment is taking a temporary downturn (i.e. retail, hospitality, tourism, self-employed etc.); you have finished further education studies earlier than anticipated; are looking for temporary employment to support you with immediate income; or just keen to do your bit to help the county, then please apply immediately.

There are many ways in which you can be help us; you do not need specific experience or expertise in social care to help.  If you are caring and compassionate and willing to get stuck in, we will have a role for you. We work with adults of all ages from 18 upwards. We work with people who may be frail and/or have multiple health conditions; people with learning and physical disabilities; and people with mental health issues, including dementia.

The type of ways in which you can help may include;

·       Cooking meals and preparing snacks and drinks

·       General housekeeping

·       Driving to collect supplies, shopping and delivering vital equipment

·       Helping people to get washed and dressed or get ready for bed

·       Conversation and companionship and social activities – in person or by telephone or online

·       Helping with physical activity

·       Helping people to use technology so they can keep connected and keep well

·       Organisation, co-ordination and administration – getting things done!

·       Accredited counselling and therapeutic skills

As well providing vital support to the people of North Yorkshire, this is an opportunity to share great moments with your local community, in a supportive and fulfilling environment.

Make a difference to someone’s life and support your community in these most critical of times.

Whilst we are looking to start people to start as soon as possible in this temporary opportunity, if you find that care and support is a new career for you, we can look to consider permanent work too.

Work can take place in a variety of settings: online or by telephone; in people’s homes, whether they live alone or live in a care home or an extra care housing scheme; in short breaks or day services and out in the community.

And, as we respond to the pandemic, we need creativity to provide these services: face to face where necessary (with due precautions taken to reduce the risk of Covid infection) and online or by telephone where that works better for people.

Every day is different as your work revolves around the people you’re helping.

Experience is not required and full training and support will be provided. To be a success you will be eager to learn and have the ability to deliver vital care and support to those in need.

We operate 24 / 7 and therefore can consider availability for a variety of hours and times.

How can I help?

If this sounds like something you can help us with, please register your interest and apply straight away to discuss how you support your local community.
