Do you have a strong, successful track record in education and leadership?
We are looking for a strategic, inclusive and performance-focused leader to join us as Principal Adviser to drive improvement, proactively solve key education challenges and promote high standards in all schools and settings.
This is a pivotal leadership role in the School Improvement team and an exciting opportunity to work with schools and settings across North Yorkshire, from towns to rural communities to schools on coast. As Principal Adviser the role could see you specialising in early years, primary, secondary, special schools and PRUs. The size and geography of North Yorkshire will also enable the post holders to work with a wide variety of schools and settings including maintained schools and academies. Through your team, you will have clear oversight of a large group of maintained schools and will be linked to a set of academy trusts. The role is demanding, challenging but hugely rewarding, making a real impact on children's lives, driving tangible school improvement and impacting on outcomes for all children.
The post holder will manage a team of Education Advisers who are responsible for school improvement, each with an allocated set of schools, and you will work directly to the Head of School Improvement. To be successful in this role you will have a proven track record in delivering school improvement in your own school and across other schools; your experience enables you to identify the key challenges and plan solution-focussed services that successfully drive improved outcomes for all children.
The post holder will work alongside a variety of service areas including children and families, inclusion, finance, strategic planning and HR. You will deputise for the Head of School Improvement and become involved with leading professional development workshops for school leaders and for SI colleagues and you will develop strong partnerships with teaching school alliances. You will shape the model for whole school or focussed reviews and you will use North Yorkshire’s performance information to develop the team’s strategic approach to working with schools in the county.
In addition to leading a portfolio of school improvement services through your teams, you will be the strategic lead for key themes across the service. You will develop and lead the service’s strategic direction and be a key influencer across wider strategic partnerships.
You will be a corporate player, building on collaborative working across services and collectively using professional strengths to achieve shared targets.
This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your career; you will be given opportunity to develop your skills in working across a large and complex organisation.
We understand the importance of workforce development and you will be well equipped with the skills and knowledge, to effectively deliver and improve the service. As a council we are very much committed to encouraging flexible working for our employees, including using modern technologies to support agile ways of working.
