As a Systems Development Officer you will be part of the Corporate Systems Team within the Council’s Technology and Change Service Area. Our team’s overall aim is to ensure the effective operation of key management information systems, so if you are looking for an opportunity to deliver, develop and support a range of systems across a vast network of offices, external users and partners, then this could be an exciting opportunity for you. 

You will help to shape the current design and future developments of systems to meet business and statutory requirements. You will also be responsible for the successful testing and implementation of any new bespoke system development components and upgrade changes and provide a professional, high quality second line support service.

Based in Northallerton, you will be working in a team of team of over 40 people as a systems expert who strives to foster a friendly and professional working environment, where individual effort and team work is recognised and valued both by customers and colleagues alike. We have currently have two posts available within team:


Systems Development Officer – Education & Skills (Full-time, fixed term contract)


This is a full-time, fixed term position that has a primary focus on the support, administration and delivery of the Council’s Portfolio, Programme and Project Management System, Synergy, Adult Learning, Health & Safety, SLA Online and other Education Management Systems.

Working collaboratively with a number of internal and external partners/suppliers, including the Projects, Programmes and Portfolio Management Teams, your work as a technology lead will contribute towards the successful delivery of the North Yorkshire Change Programme and efficient resource management of day-to-day duties our employees undertake.


Systems Development Officer – Case Management (Full-time, fixed-term contract maternity cover)


This is a full-time fixed-term position with a primary focus on the support, administration, and development of the Council’s Children’s and Adults Social Care Systems.


Working collaboratively with a number of internal and external partners/suppliers, including the Adult and Children’s Social Care teams, Prevention Service and other social care systems team experts,  your work as a technical systems lead will contribute towards the successful delivery of NYCC’s Social Care Service.
