Whilst the payroll service is a core part of North Yorkshire County Council, we are the trusted partner for hundred’s of clients that choose us to be their payroll partner. The core sectors we deliver to are Public Sector; Local Government, Education: Academies and Schools. As a large authority, working in partnership and offering our economy of scale to partners for mutual benefit is part of our DNA and our history. In more recent years and in response to changing markets we have more proactively and commercially grown our payroll solutions and employment support services. We are proud of the service’s growth and ability to respond changing demands. We are honoured that our clients trust us with their workforce’s pay; this is crucial to their most valuable asset.

The time is now right to invest further in our service, this is where you come in. We have created the new role of Service Delivery Manager. The primary focus of this role is to develop customer partnerships and deliver payroll service solutions that result in our clients recommending our service to others.

Your leadership will inspire your team to deliver customer solution focussed services, your performance grip and transparency will evidence your service achievement and your business acumen and personal approach enables you to secure and successfully work with new clients.

Our clients have complex terms and conditions, pension and employee benefits schemes; that requires a technically credible, bespoke and highly responsive service, a service that understands them, that adds value and drives customer focussed solutions.

Your service will constantly adapt; implementing changes driven from new legislation, market forces or customer requirements. You will ensure that your service understands, delivers and embeds these changes accurately and with strong quality assurance and governance.

You seek to build strong collaborative partnerships across the wider HR solutions services, suppliers and other key stakeholders. Through these partnerships you influence others to aid your service delivery whilst ensuring that your service is having a positive impact for others. We have over 30 traded services we offer clients a full professional services solution, we are more effective together and we must understand the wider implications, beyond individual service areas.

We are looking for a leader who has the ability to unite, integrate and transform payroll service to maximise effectiveness and provide a platform for further growth.  You measure and manage workload, staff utilisation, quality standards and governance in a way that drives performance improvement, avoids nasty surprises and delights your customers, that is beyond SLA metrics.

We are looking for a professional that has a proven track record in delivering customer focussed payroll solutions. Whilst understanding the technical aspects of payroll may be an advantage it is not an essential requirement, as you build technical excellence through your teams. A track record in the delivery of payroll service solutions and customer service is key to your success in this role. Experience of delivering payroll services to or within large, complex and highly regulated organisations will be an asset in this role, as will knowledge of Local Government and Education sectors. You will be a strong operations manager; robust service delivery is the platform upon which you build your customer service and retention.

This is a new role; an opportunity to shape, influence and transform a successful payroll solutions service and enhance your career with a large, ambitious organisation. You will be welcomed by a talented and committed team.

We encourage further conversations regarding this opportunity, please contact us: Kirstie Paterson (Head of HR – Employment Support Service) 07974175780.

Closing date: Wednesday 7th April
