About the role

We are seeking a Building Control Surveyor to effectively deliver the Building Control function throughout North Yorkshire and contribute towards the objectives of the Partnership.  Working alongside a professional team, you will be competent in all Building Control and administrative matters, ensuring that appropriate buildings meet the regulatory standards in safety, sustainability, accessibility and design.

 

 

You will initiate and assist with enforcement action to ensure delivery of the Partnerships obligations under the Building Act and associated legislation, whilst working within a highly competitive market.  The post holder will ensure a strong and efficient performance culture with a focus on service excellence and customer satisfaction.

 

 

About You

To be successful in the role the post holder will:

§  Be educated to degree level in a relevant subject such as Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction or Structural Engineering and/or be able to demonstrate learning at an equivalent level.

§  Demonstrate knowledge of the construction industry, methods, techniques and materials.

§  Have strong knowledge of Building Regulations, procedures and associated Building Control functions offered by a Local Authority.

§  Have the ability to understand architects plans, compile reports and records and undertake site inspection work.

§  Have a proven track record of working across teams and with other partnerships to promote effective service delivery and a strong performance culture.

§  Technically competent individual who demonstrates logical methods of working, shows attention to detail and provides clear professional advice.

§  Have vision, energy and drive, demonstrating a solid work ethic.

§  Good interpersonal/ people skills, self-motivated and a productive team player.
