Whether you are a newly qualified Social Worker looking for your first opportunity or whether you are an experienced social worker looking for a new challenge or to return to practice, this could be the role for you!

We are looking for Social Workers to help us realise our ambition of ensuring that all residents of North Yorkshire live longer, healthier, independent lives.

Our roles allow a flexible approach to working. Whilst work can be undertaken from your home base, there will be a requirement to attend the office on occasions due to service need. While virtual working is promoted as a modern and efficient way of delivering services, the need for face-to-face visits will also be required at times. With this flexibility in mind, we encourage people to apply who might wish to work more flexibly or alternative hours (for example at weekends).

These roles present fantastic opportunities for those who are looking for diversity. The workload covers supporting people subject to section 117, mental capacity assessment, care act assessments, safeguarding adults, supporting in a wide range of settings, community, supported living, extra care housing, hospitals, care homes, working with adults who are 18 plus and also with transitional cases.

Collaborative partnerships will be key to the role. You will work closely with various teams and agencies, including the NHS, stronger communities and prevention teams and the voluntary and independent sector, promoting health and wellbeing, and preventing, reducing and delaying need.

Through strength based assessments and a focus on holistic, person centred care, you will support adults with care and support needs and their carers to achieve their desired outcomes. In order to achieve this, you will be experienced in developing personalised care and support plans that represent best value and in determining eligibility for adults with care and support needs against national standards, ensuring they are safe from harm. You will also have a good working knowledge of current adult social care legislation and application of the legislative principles, including the Care Act 2014.

We know Adult Social work is a challenging profession so it’s important to us that our social workers have supportive and transparent management and the opportunity for continuous professional development. We have a dedicated Practice Team that actively supports practitioners with this.

We strive and excel in giving our colleagues commitment and high levels of support, enabling them to become the best social workers they can be. We are committed to creating a healthy culture where our social workers feel able to share their views, to achieve work/life balance and to continually learn and develop new ways of working.

As an organisation, we promote a safe culture of support and learning which we expect all staff to endorse. We recognise the importance of the health and wellbeing of our employees, striving to ensure our staff have manageable case workloads and specialised business support, allowing focus on delivery of care services. We also support the AYSE (Assessed and Supported Year of Employment) programme for newly qualified Social Workers where you will be supported in your first full year of employment through reduced caseloads and enhanced supervision.

In addition to this we can offer a range of benefits including a competitive salary, generous leave entitlement, flexible working, a local government pension scheme, salary sacrifice and employee discount benefits. North Yorkshire is a modern council rolling out new technology including modern IT equipment, WIFI access across NYCC buildings, remote access and Microsoft Teams – all enabling and supporting flexible working.

To be eligible for this post you will have a professional Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/ CQSW), or be studying a social work degree with a view to complete your studies in 22/23, or have previously been a registered social worker and would like to return to practice.
