Salary: £10.34 - £11.41 per hour (£19,945 - £22,021 per annum pro rata) with the opportunity to claim mileage (42p per mile from your home to the school)  
Grade: F

Contract: Variable hours with a flexible approach during peak times.

Hours: Opportunity to work additional hours to cover extra meetings.  Please note, this is not a full time position. Clerks may only have 60 hours per year clerking and paid employment. You will be a designated clerk to a Governing Body, many Governing Bodies have between 6-12 meetings a year and you will be paid 10 hours per Full Governing Body meeting and 7 hours per Committee meeting.

We are looking to expand our team and have the opportunity for aspiring and experienced Clerks to support an increasing range of Governing Boards/Local Boards on a traded basis. By supporting effective school governance, you will make a clear and direct contribution to the delivery of strategic priorities and sequentially improve the outcomes for children and young people.  

This is a highly autonomous role which is varied, challenging and rewarding. We are looking for Clerks who will work closely with Governing Boards/Local Boards and further build on our reputation of excellence in supporting the delivery of our service across North Yorkshire and out of County. You will be motivated, flexible and organised, have excellent communication and customer care skills and possess a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

This role is homebased with the requirement to travel to attend between 6 -12 Governing Board meetings per year.

We have various positions available across the county including; Northallerton, Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough, Skipton, Settle, Scarborough, Pickering, Malton, Catterick, Richmond and on the outskirts of York.
Other locations out of County - South Lakes Cumbria, Kendal Area Cumbria

 

You will provide advice in and outside of Governing Board/Local Board meetings to ensure the legal frameworks are followed, for this you will receive a dedicated induction package including shadowing, mentoring and on-going support from an experienced team to ensure you are confident and proficient in your role.

We understand the importance of investing in our workforce, and as such you will be well supported to effectively deliver and improve services. Alongside a comprehensive induction training package, you will receive: regular training through termly meetings, networking opportunities, support from Senior Clerks, appraisals and service meetings.

 ‘I have worked for a number of organisations but none has given me the same affirmation and encouragement as I have received over the time I have been working with the Clerking Service. Through my work helping governors fulfil their responsibilities I feel that I am making a contribution to improving the educational experience of the pupils, who, at the end of the day, I believe, is what this work is all about.’
