Selby Music Centre requires an Ensemble Director to start as soon as possible.
We are rebuilding after the pandemic and therefore looking for enthusiastic musicians to help us do this. We have previously had a thriving Choir, Junior Wind Band and 2 Guitar ensembles, so there is potential in the area to rekindle these groups.
The successful candidate will be directing two of the following ensembles:
Beginner Wind Band; Choir; Junior Guitars.
· Beginner Wind Band will cater for concert band instrumental players (Woodwind, Brass, Percussion and Keyboards) from beginner to Grade 1.
· Choir caters for junior students of all abilities. Previously the group has sung in a mixture of styles, including elementary singing in parts.
· Junior Guitars will cater for beginners to grade 2/3 standard.
The applicants will need to have had some experience of directing an ensemble and have a good working knowledge of appropriate repertoire.
The successful applicant will need to be able to work as part of a team, and be available for 30 Saturday mornings a year.
We hold 3 main concerts per year, the summer one being in Selby Abbey, and other performance opportunities as they become available throughout the year, for which overtime will be paid.
Enhanced Level DBS Disclosure is required for appointment to this post.
