North Yorkshire County Council covers a wide area with teams in all districts, shortly to become North Yorkshire Council in April 2023.

Selby is a small market town right in the heart of Yorkshire, meaning its really well connected with easy links to Leeds, York, Hull, Northallerton with the Coast and National Parks in easy reach. The Selby district is a great place because there is a fantastic mix of market towns and picturesque villages.

The house prices are lower than neighbouring urban areas, which means people get more for their money. This means we usually attract families, which helps to grow the local workforce and the overall population to support local retailers, services and industries.

Selby is home to one of the country’s leading further education colleges, the primary schools consistently perform well and have a great quality independent school sector.

We welcome individuals looking to relocate, for further information please see our Relocation Policy.
