The Portfolio Management Office (PMO) is a central function to our transformational change programme and offers opportunity to develop a career into Project Management, Business Change Analysis or the PMO itself. The goal of portfolio management is to balance change initiatives and business as usual in an organisation whilst optimising benefits or return on investment.

As a Projects and Change Officer (PCO) you will be part of the PMO team, whilst also supporting the Projects team and the Business Change team to deliver a range of projects that vary from; changes to organisational structures, business processes, technology, culture and ways of working and will impact on services across the council and partner organisations, large numbers of staff and have significant budget implications.  Programmes will also involve working with partners, including district councils to look at delivering back office and frontline services in different ways.

As a PCO you will be a crucial part to ensuring project tasks are completed to a high standard, workshops are facilitated to produce the best outcomes and management information is provided in a timely and accurate manner.

With a number of changes happening within NYCC the team is always busy so there no matter what your background there will be something for you to get involved in. The opportunity to be part of operational changes within the organisation will give the right candidate the ability to learn and develop within the role, while using existing skills.

The position of Project and Change Officer will require you to have strong business administration skills including the use of spreadsheets. Your communication skills will be of a high standard through all platforms such as written, telephony and face to face. You will be able to analyse data through many forms of information. As well as these skills you will need to be flexible in your approach, ready to support in any way possible.
