Salary: £30,151 to £33,820 per annum pro rata 
Location: Harrogate

Hours: 14 hours per week (Monday and Friday)

Contract: Fixed Term –9 months

 

About the role

 

Are you someone who is passionate about Deaf education and would like to be part of a team supporting a Deaf student reach their potential in a mainstream setting? We currently have a vacancy for a Deaf Inclusion Worker to join us.

 

You will be part of a small and knowledgeable team enabling this student to access her learning across a range of contexts in the family home and in the community. You will be employed centrally by North Yorkshire County Council and receive support from the BSL Teacher and the existing Communication Support Worker who will continue to work with you as a job-share. There will also be input from a Speech and Language Therapist. You will skilfully support the young person using a range of communication methods, primarily BSL and Sign-Supported English. In order to support this young person’s achievement you may also be required to prepare visual resources (e.g. adapting the teaching material to ensure it is accessible).

 

About you

 

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with young adults with Autism, preferably within an education environment. You need to have the requisite signing skills (at least BSL Signature Level 3 or equivalent or with a willingness to study for Level 4) and be familiar with Sign Supported English.
