Salary: £42,503 to £46,549

Contract Type – permanent – full time

Location: Hybrid working with the expectation to visit County Hall or other Area Highway Offices/Depots when required

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer Transport & Development to join our Network Strategy Team within our Highways and Transportation service, as part of a professional and dedicated Engineering team.

 

Our team

 

Our Transport and Development Team sits within the Network Strategy Group of the Highways and Transportation service.  We deliver the County Council’s Highways Development Management service, which leads on the delivery of new roads and highway improvements associated with new commercial and residential housing developments and responding to significant and strategic planning applications on behalf of the County council as the local highway authority.

 

The Team also manage developer funded highway works necessary for developers to bring forward their developments, mainly through the Section 278 and Section 38 Agreements process including the use of Advance Payment Code procedures and input into the CIL process within North Yorkshire.

 

The role

As one of our Senior Engineers, you will deliver the highways development management service including the supervision and mentoring of  a number of Transport & Development Engineers and Highways Officers.  You will also provide professional advice and direction on development and transportation issues to others involved in delivering the service in the Transport and Development team and colleagues throughout the Business Unit.  

 

What you will bring

 

To be successful, you will hold a HND/HNC in an appropriate discipline and/or significant relevant experience. You will have detailed knowledge of current guidance and legislation regarding highways development management, developer funded highway works and the Planning process, have knowledge of highway design issues including Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB)and Manual for Streets.

You must have exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to articulate technical information to non-specialists as well as the ability to problem solve and find practical solutions through creativity and innovative thinking. Excellent organisation skills are a must.
