About us

The world of Education is a rapidly changing environment presenting challenge and opportunity: we are proud to be an award winning, responsive and solution focussed service providing a high standard of professional HR Advisory support to over 400 educational settings.  As a 100% traded service, we rely on each and every member of our team to have a highly commercial and professional approach.  Our customers include Academies, Independent Schools and Early Year settings both within and beyond North Yorkshire’s boundaries and we are continuing to successfully grow our customer base beyond North Yorkshire’s boundaries thanks to our excellent team.

Our successful commercial approach has attracted national recognition in the form of winning the 2018 PPMA award for HR and Commercialism.

As a result of our success, we are looking to expand our team and have fantastic opportunities for aspiring and experienced commercially minded HR professionals either now or potentially in the very near future.

If you are looking for a role where you enjoy variety, challenge and the opportunity to grow. Then this is the role for you…

What you will be doing…

This is an exciting role, ideal for graduates and those looking to enter the world of HR or those wanting to build on existing HR experience. The post-holder will be the main first point of contact for the service delivering high quality, commercial HR advice on HR policies, procedures, governance and terms and conditions. A key part of this role will be to lead on absence management cases. You will need to demonstrate a coaching style, taking a solution focussed approach to enable schools to deal with their staffing issues.

The post-holder will be based at County Hall, Northallerton, but will spend up to 50% of their time out of the office working with schools across the patch.

What you will bring…

As an HR Adviser, you are a confident, self-motivated and organised individual, with a can do approach to work.

You are personable and enthusiastic with a passion for delivering a great HR service.

A team player, a strong communicator, who is credible and able to build relationships quickly and win trust and confidence at all levels. Always thinking creatively, ready to challenge existing practices and identifying innovative solutions to meet changing business needs.

You are likely to have experience of working within a large, complex organisation, in private or public sector as well as:

  • A sound knowledge of current employment legislation and good HR practice
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workloads flexibly and in response to business demands, often working to tight deadlines.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under own initiative.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, positive attitude and ability to think creatively.

What you will get in return…

We want you to work to live not live to work, we want you to enjoy the things in life that really matter to you and this is important to us. We can offer you a range of employee benefits including a competitive salary, generous leave entitlement, flexible working hours, a government pension scheme and access to our ‘Everybody Benefits’ package which includes a variety of retail discounts. You can also expect to receive ongoing support throughout your role and to be part of a friendly and dedicated team.

Although you will be required to attend County Hall on a fairly regular basis, you will be fully enabled through mobile kit and encouraged by management to work in a highly agile way at locations across the County, including home.

If this sounds like the opportunity for you we’d love to hear from you…
