Due to additional investment, North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Partnership are looking for an exceptional candidate to join their successful Multi-Agency Child Exploitation (MACE) and Contextual Safeguarding arrangements as a Child Exploitation and Contextual Safeguarding Officer. The 2020–2023 NYSCP MACE and Contextual Safeguarding Strategy outlines the existing arrangements for strategic and operational oversight of MACE across North Yorkshire.

The four key priorities are:

·       Enabling partners and communities to work together to protect children and young people

·       Focus on prevention and engagement of children, young people, parents and carers

·       Strengthen multi-agency work in response to children and young people identified as at risk and the

targeting and disruption of those who pose a risk of harm and locations of concern

·       Utilise Research, Innovation and Quality Assurance to strengthen practice.

In line with the NYSCP MACE Practice Guidance, the postholder will chair our MACE locality meetings focusing on the contextual safeguarding links between children at risk of exploitation, perpetrators or individuals who may pose a risk by exploitation, as well as locations and community intelligence. They will work collaboratively with a range of different partners including police, children and family services, health, education, housing, community safety partnerships, voluntary and third sector organisations to develop robust locality partnership action plans. They will support partners to develop intelligence, pursue and prosecute perpetrators and disrupt exploitation activity within communities. The postholder will also support the chairing of our National Referral Mechanism panel as part of the Home Office pilot for devolved decision making where there are concerns a child may be subject to Modern Slavery or Human Trafficking.

If you have a strong record of partnership working, are confident in chairing multi-agency meetings and are passionate about safeguarding children at risk of exploitation and abuse then this role could be for you. Knowledge of child safeguarding, exploitation, partnership working and management of perpetrators of child abuse will be essential combined with an understanding of national requirements, guidance and best practice.
