Residential and Edge of Care Worker (050916)

Job Title: Residential and Edge of Care Hub Worker

Location: 53 Stepney Road, Stepney Road Children’s Home

Salary details: Grade H – (£24,419 – £28,226 PA)

Contract type: Full time permanent.

No Wrong Door provides support to North Yorkshire’s most vulnerable young people. Our young people have complex needs and have experienced early childhood trauma. This role is to work as part of the established team in delivering support and interventions to young people aged between 13 and 25. We have the highest aspirations for all the young people we care for and our aim is to provide the scaffold for them to achieve the best possible outcomes in life.

We are looking for four full time Hub Workers to work within the No Wrong Door Hub in the East of the county. These roles support the staff team in providing the highest level of residential care. If you are looking for a challenging and rewarding job we would like to hear from you.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day care of young people within our residential home. The approach we adopt is to create a family environment where our young people feel valued and respected. An example of this would be to support and develop our young people’s positive experiences through education, activities and life skills. We want our children to feel included in the decisions made with them, and to be involved in every aspect of their care.

You may also contribute to our Edge of Care Service, providing outreach support to young people in our local community. You will need to work with a solution focussed approach, in a fast paced environment whilst always keeping the child at the centre of all decision making. You must have the ability to meet the travel needs of this post: Please be aware that this may involve significant travel implications and will involve transporting children and families across the county.

Working with our young people can be challenging at times, and will require you to be compassionate, resilient, empathetic and non-judgemental. This role is extremely rewarding as you will find yourself influencing young people to make positive life choices, and supporting them through the difficulties of adolescence. You will need to be flexible in your approach, as this role is shift work as part of a 24/7 rota.

You will work closely with our young people and their families using a range of tools and interventions developed through a robust and extensive training programme. Your role will be critical in building relationships and trust with the most vulnerable and complex young people in North Yorkshire – as such you will ‘stick with’ each young person through some of their most challenging times in their lives.

We are able to offer self-development and career opportunities for those with the talent and desire to progress and can offer a role that can genuinely improve outcomes for teenagers.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge and skills in adolescent childcare and have, or be willing to work towards, a Level 4 apprenticeship in Children and Young People Residential Pathway. Applicants must have good numeracy and literacy skills and be able to work restoratively and therapeutically.

For further information about the role please contact Matt Collins, No Wrong Door East Hub, on either 01723 373891 or 07811 411266.
