About the role

You will be responsible for supporting our Building Control function in the delivery of our projects, while contributing to the objectives of the partnership. Supporting the wider team, you will undertake administrative matters, ensuring that appropriate buildings meet the regulatory standards in safety, sustainability, accessibility and design.

 

 

Working within a highly competitive market, you will initiate and assist with enforcement action, to ensure delivery of the Partnerships obligations under the Building Act and associated legislation.  You will also be responsible for plan assessments, site inspection work and checking compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.

 

 

With a strong focus on service excellence and customer satisfaction, you will strive to ensure a strong and efficient performance culture, providing excellent front line customer service, dealing with enquiries at all levels promptly, whilst ensuring accuracy.

 

 

About You

We are seeking a hard working, forward thinking and flexible individual, who is a team player, possesses great attention to detail, is reliable, proactive and shows initiative, whilst able to keep cool under pressure and able to prioritise a demanding workload. 

 

 

You will have excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills and have the ability to adapt to different cultures and working environments to build rapport with our clients.

 

 

Training Programme

We have a set career structure to develop and support you through your building control career; allowing a smooth transition from an Assistant Building Control Surveyor to a fully qualified and experienced Building Control Surveyor.

 

 

During this period, you will undergo an internal professional development programme which runs parallel to approved external qualification courses (if required) to develop your professional knowledge and experience, providing you with the skills to carry out inspections and understanding technical and professional levels of plan check procedures required by a Local Authority Building Control service.

 

 

Throughout the programme, there will be a broad range of situations available for learning and development opportunities.  This will involve acquiring knowledge of the administration procedures, plan checking, on-site control, liaising with other professionals and communicating with members of the public, fire brigade, health & safety and always prioritising customer care and recognising and dealing with competitive forms of building control.
