Salary: £29,636 to £32,029

Location: Home based – travel independently across county and region

Term time only plus 1 week.

 

We are looking for a Financial Support Officer to join our successful team who deliver financial management services to schools and academies across North Yorkshire and its surrounding regions. 

 

Financial Management Services (FMS) operates as part of North Yorkshire Educational Services (NYES) and provides financial advice and support to over 300 schools and academies on a traded basis.  The service has a turnover in excess of £1.2m per annum, excellent customer retention rates, and has a reputation for delivering high quality valued support to clients.  In addition to this we are one of only 9 organisations supplying School Resources Management Advisers (SRMA’s) to the DfE.

 

As Financial Support Officer, you will be responsible for the delivery of outstanding services to clients; establishing strong relationships with clients, and ensuring delivery of a value added service.  You will be supporting clients with day-to-day financial or school business management tasks, budget setting and monitoring, monthly reconciliations, attending governor/trustee meetings, financial forecasting, benchmarking, etc. You will also have the opportunity to apply for SRMA accreditation, if you are not already accredited.

To be successful you must:


  • Hold full membership of AAT and/or equivalent relevant qualification;
  • Have experience in financial management and the provision of financial support and in depth knowledge of budget preparation, management and monitoring;
  • Have experience of meeting targets and delivering high quality customer service levels;
  • Have the ability to meet targets and produce accurate high quality work as well as have the ability to interpret and analyse financial and non-financial information and to advise on, and make recommendations for improvement where necessary
  • Be able to display excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and good interpersonal skills

The role operates from home as the work base and involves travel to visit school and academy clients across North Yorkshire and its surrounding regions. The job also involves some evening work with attendance at governor meetings and local authority convened meetings.
