Job Location: York and Scarborough (York Activity Hub and Scarborough Activity Hub)
The City of York Council, York Learning Community Education department needs an appropriately qualified, motivated and experienced person to work face to face on a target based, outcome focused Activity Hub project supporting offenders serving their sentences in the community to achieve their learning and work goals.
The post holder will carry out one to one information, advice and guidance and deliver group sessions which engage specific hard to reach client groups, enabling engagement and progression to community and welfare services, further learning and voluntary or paid work. The post holder must have understanding and empathy to be able to engage with clients with complex needs including; current and past offending behaviour, basic skills development, mental health, housing, and addiction issues. You must also have ability to network and liaise with appropriate partner organisations to develop and facilitate fully client-centred support networks. A sound knowledge of the employability issues offenders face in securing and staying in work; participating in learning, and engaging with community services is fundamental to the post- as is evidence and experience of working to targets and gaining evidence for outcomes.
Strong inter-personal skills; creative thinking, and excellent recording and administration skills will be needed to meet specific project requirements- including the ability and aptitude to use specialist ICT based management systems.
This post will require being based in the York Activity Hub with some time travelling to Scarborough Activity Hub when required. For candidates that are Scarborough based we could reverse this arrangement.
