Location: County Hall Campus

Salary From

First six months at £19,171, second six months at £19,945, final 12 months at £22,021

Contract: 2 year fixed term positions as part of the NYCC graduate programme
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week

 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Trainee with a keen interest in projects and change initiatives to join our Technology and Change service.

 

As our Graduate Trainee you will work closely with experienced and dedicated Technology and Change professionals both within directorates and corporately, to support a range of initiatives to deliver the Council plan, our vision and strategic priorities, whilst gathering and analysing service requirements to supporting the transformation of services.

 

You will have the opportunity to develop project management skills and lead on specific areas of development, gain a good understanding of research, analysis, report writing and presentation skills as well as learn to gather service requirements through a range of methods, and present findings in a clear and concise way, review operational processes and research best practice to identify risks, issues and opportunities for service improvement, and manage delivery of tasks to ensure delivery to deadline, providing status reports and escalating issues as appropriate.

 

In addition to dedicated support and training, you will gain experience from working with highly skilled professionals and other partnerships, both within the Council and with partner organisations. You will also develop a good understanding and experience of working for a large, highly regarded organisation and gain knowledge of T&C professions across a range of functions.


What you will bring

 

As Graduate Trainee – Portfolio Management Office you will need to be articulate, confident and resilient with exceptional influencing skills and a keen customer focus. You will also:

 

  • Educated to degree level;
  • Have experience of project work and good understanding of how policies and procedures can be applied in practice;
  • Exceptional IT skills and the ability to interpret and analysis data;
  • Problem solving and the ability to find innovative solutions

About our corporate graduate development programme

 

These roles will form part of our corporate graduate development programme which offers you the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills in roles supporting the operational delivery of frontline services. These positions will be fast-paced and will require individuals who can demonstrate resilience and an ability to develop creative solutions to help shape services of the future.

 

This is a two year programme and will integrate training within the operational job role. It will include a variety of training and development opportunities which will be undertaken in a group setting with other graduates who join the 2021 cohort. We are committed to helping you secure a position with NYCC at the end of your programme and you will be able to apply for internal and external vacancies which arise. The learning and development you gain through the programme will strengthen your ability to secure further employment.
